In
only a few years Thai food has become the most popular exotic cuisine in
the world, the distinctive flavours of Thai dishes with hints of fresh coriander,
coconut, fish sauce and lemon grass are the result of a special national
talent for blending a great variety of spices and herbs. Thai cuisine is a unique synthesis of Asian influences and the countries chefs are adept at combining and incorporating dishes and ideas from its neighbours-India, China, Laos and the southern Muslim countries of Malaysia and Indonesia thus has evolved this superb cuisine.
The framework for this rich and varied cuisine is the basic culinary tradition
of South East Asia, rice and noodle based more fish and vegetables than
meat, more light meat than dark, and above all spices and chilli's for flavouring.
It is this last element-the central role of spices-that is for most people
the immediate characteristic of Thai cuisine indeed what helps to raise
Thai cooking to the status of a major cuisine is its inspired and eclectic
use of spices. Here at the Ruen Thai Restaurant we have attempted to create authentic Thai cuisine, by obtaining the finest ingredients from Thailand and then created in to a superb menu by our Master Chef Khun Suthan Jinaphan who has worked in some of the finest restaurants in Thailand.
